Sickle Cell PCR

Students explore Sickle Cell Disease through the real story of Adrienne Shapiro’s family, using PCR, restriction digest, and gel electrophoresis to determine each member’s hemoglobin genotype. While the individuals are real, the experiment is a simulation and does not use their actual DNA.
